periya thirumalai  nambi (srIsaila pUrNar)  is one of the prime sishyas of ALavandhAr and one of the dearest AchAryas of emperumAnAr. He is also the maternal uncle of srI rAmAnujar and the one who explained the intricacies of srI rAmAyaNam which is hailed as sharaNAgathi sAsthram.
